Voice diagnostics

← Back to chat

This page walks through every layer of the voice stack — browser capability, microphone access, speech-to-text, and voice playback — so you can see exactly where it's failing if it is. Each step is independent; you can re-run any of them.

1 Browser support

Voice features need the browser to support audio recording. Some older browsers or restrictive corporate setups block these.

2 Voice features enabled

An admin must enable voice in /settings → Voice. If it's off here, the mic button won't appear in the chat regardless.

3 Microphone access

Your browser will prompt for permission. Speak normally — the bar below should jump when you talk. If it stays gray, the mic isn't picking up sound (check Windows sound settings → Privacy → Microphone, or whichever OS).

4 Speech-to-text

Hold the button below and say something — anything works, but try the classic "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" for a clear test. Release to upload + transcribe.

Mic access required first…

5 Voice playback

Click the button — DMLLM will speak a short greeting. If you hear nothing, check your speakers / volume / browser tab is not muted.
